People like to snoop around on each other’s social media accounts. As well as keeping track of who has visited our profile, we also like to keep track of who has been viewing our profile. Despite the fact that some websites do not offer this feature, one of the most popular ones does. Using the TikTok app, it is possible to turn off and on the feature of the profile view history within the app. We explain how to do this below.
The fact that we know who has been looking at our profiles can lead us down a rabbit hole of who, what, where, and why. However, that doesn’t stop us from wanting to know. Alternatively, if everyone knew when we were checking out someone’s profile on social media, we might be discouraged from stalking them on that platform in the future.
I have learned that Instagram, among other social media platforms, does not have a profile view history feature. Thankfully, TikTok does. Furthermore, they have also provided a way to turn it off, which is a good thing.
Does TikTok Show Who Viewed Your Profile? Feature Explained
It is possible to find out which accounts have viewed your profile in the past 30 days by using the feature. The only problem with this is that it only works if both you and the account that is looking at your profile have profile view history enabled.
The account that has been looking at your profile needs to have the future turned on for you to be notified when it looks at it again. Furthermore, it also works the other way around; if you have TikTok profile views turned on, other accounts will be able to tell when you’ve been peeking at their profiles.
There is no way for you to have it one way without the other, regardless of what any third-party app may try to tell you. If you are known for your social media stalking, you may want to turn off your profile view history if you wish to know who has visited your profile and what they think about you. However, if you want to know who has viewed your profile, it may be best to leave it off.
How To Turn Off TikTok Profile Views
We don’t blame you for making the decision to turn this feature off if that’s the decision you’ve made. No one wants to spend their time obsessing over who is looking at their account and who isn’t. The worst part of it all is that you don’t want to receive that dreaded ‘Why were you looking at my profile?’ text message from your friend.
I am happy to tell you that there are a couple of really easy ways to turn this off, so you don’t have to worry about it.
Ideally, if the feature has already been enabled, then all you need to do is go to your profile and click on the three lines in the top right corner. Go to Settings and Privacy, tap Privacy, and then tap Profile views from the list of options. The toggle allows you to toggle whether you want it on or off, with it automatically being turned off by default when you toggle it on.
In order to turn this feature off, just go to your inbox from your profile views page and turn it off there. Whenever you receive a notification that someone has viewed your profile, click the notification and then go to the settings button in the top right corner of the screen. You will also be able to turn on or off profile views from here, as well as change the default settings.
How To Use The Feature
As long as you’ve decided to allow this feature to be on, you’ll get notified whenever someone views your profile, as long as you’ve enabled it. It is important to note that notifications will last for 30 days unless you choose to delete them.
Only accounts with less than 5000 followers are able to see the number of views on their profile. Larger accounts will naturally have a lot more people checking them out, so notifications will never stop as a result.
Additionally, you must be at least 16 years old to be able to view the views of your TikTok profile.
In addition to the power that this feature offers, it may also keep your snooping from now on in check since it comes with a lot of power. Whatever you want to do with it, at least now you know how it works and that you can turn it on and off however you like.
